Spring Inspires a Positive Future.

As I look out onto the street where I live, I stare in wonder as the World starts to renew itself. The leaves on our Maple tree are bursting with renewed green and yellow energy. In a few hours, broad leaves are where brown stubble was since last November. Colour is everywhere in bluebells, daffodils and tulips. God has done it again and I am so fortunate to witness it once more. Last fall, I sat where I am now and wondered if I would be here to see another spring. These thoughts are always in the back of your mind, at least they are in mine. When you are almost 90 years old and most of your family and friends are gone to their next life, and when you have faced death on more than one occasion in your past, you have these thoughts. I know that my next journey will be with my maker and I know that the life to come will be so much better but I do like this world when I am feeling reasonably good and when God has spread such a plethora of beauty out for me to witness.
Seven years ago, when I was facing death in a matter of a few months, I became far more aware of the beauty of this world. I was especially fond of trees. When driving in the country I must have driven my dear wife crazy when commenting on the fall colours and especially the trees. I became acquainted with trees at an early age. As a small child, about 3 or 4 years old, I spent the spring and summer with my grandparents in the virgin forests of central Ontario. My sitter was a German Shepherd called Teddy. We spent countless hours wandering in the bush, curious about every new and exciting thing that this young mind was experiencing. I was never far from my grandparents as I could hear the sound of the cross/cut saw and the chopping down of another giant tree to make room for a new build. In those days, children were allowed to be free and to learn life’s lessons without constant adult supervision. The smell of the forest and the quiet tranquility when your little foot came down on the forest floor breaking a twig. Hearing strange forest noises of frogs and birds and because we were on the northern shores of Lake Simcoe, I was able to explore the shoreline that was last explored by our native people. Leaches, the gray and black ones were great for catching Catfish but the slimy green ones were gross. Garter snakes, frogs and snails were interesting and my grandpa warned me that if I saw a Water Moccasin, avoid at all cost. There were lots of wild clams that I was always curious enough to want to try eating, but never was able to muster the courage. They along with the poison snakes have all but disappeared from the lake.
A special life that very few children have, was spent in the care of my grandparents. I try but have difficulty understanding this part of my life. It was not until I was entering grade 6 that my life became full time with my parents and two younger brothers. It was, in looking back, it seemed that my mom needed a rest from me.
Joan and I have been chumming around for over 74 years. We have travelled to many parts of the world, many places some would not dare to go. God has provided us with the opportunity to see much of his handywork. From the salt flats, dessert and mountains of Turkey to many scenes of beauty in China to the cities of Russia and the Baltics, the slums of North Africa, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, the Swiss Alps and the delights of Newfoundland, Hawaii left us spellbound. We have travelled most of North America, but some of the best scenery is our own Rocky Mountains of BC and Alberta. We often take our little Smart car and drive out from our home in the Niagara peninsula into Wine country or into the foothills of our Niagara escarpment for the second-best eye candy to be seen anywhere.
My writings over the past 5 years have been about politics and the disgraceful antics of our healthcare around the world. (covid19). The poisons our culture have been confronted with have changed mankind forever. Trust is about to be cancelled from our vocabulary. We must be far more aware of the world and its pitfalls as well as its Beauty. However, we must re-new our faith in our fellow man and more so in our Creator, God our Heavenly Father.
There is a false fear that has been created by evil men to frighten the world. It is called Climate change. There is no doubt that the climate is changing. This makes it more difficult to argue the point. However, the climate will change on God’s time table. Not ours. Al Gore and others have been wrong on their predictions every time and are wrong now. People such as Bill Gates who we have put our trust in and been lied to in the past are just plain crazy or evil. I think a lot of both. Gates is working on a plan to darken the sun’s rays on earth by putting chemicals in the atmosphere. This is getting downright scary. Many accredited scientists are very concerned for mankind’s survival. Let’s hope he can be stopped. We are finding Chemtrails are damaging our health and our planet. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
The world around us has been difficult and will continue to be. Let’s all try to look on the bright side. We aren’t going to be here forever.
