A LOST PEOPLE

A LOST NATION

Sept 5 2025

Since starting out later in life on a new adventure, that being a want-a-be writer. I must have written a similar piece along the way as I have accumulated at least 500 of these observations in my short stories. However, that nagging feeling one gets when thoughts are not enough to express one’s feelings, writing it down to release the tension gets that monkey off your back.

I was a kid from the mid 1930’s and life then, was a lot different than to-day. Children are less thoughtful and far smarter in many ways, but lack intelligence or common sense.  Sure, computers and smart phones and video games are all child’s play to them but having the confidence to go outside and play without parental supervision or walk a mile or more to school, that is something we as parents have taken away from our last few generations of children. I have written about my childhood spending many hours in the forest with only a German Shepherd to care for me or, spending many Saturdays in downtown Montreal going alone on the streetcar.  I would play in the Don Valley in Toronto for hours with only one rule, be back for your supper.  These years between age 5 and 10 were learning years and a great base for an independence needed later in life. My dear friend, Bill Jeffery who was also a 1936 baby and spent his childhood playing in the rubble of his city of London during the bombing and Blitz of the 1940’s. He could tell you that, like the baby Robins, we were kicked out of the nest as soon as we were able to walk and talk. This is what we once said was “tuff Love.” Our parents loved us but were smart enough to know that the world is a hard place and the tuff will survive when better prepared.

Many of our problems today are as a result of poor parenting. For a long time now, we have lost track of an old saying “spare the rod and spoil the child.” Discipline has been lost in the rearing of our children and with this, respect for other human beings has all but gone. Many children have no respect for their teachers or worse their parents.  Stories of a 5-year-old kicking and biting their teachers and threatening that they will come back and kill, are prevalent and have caused many teachers to take up a different career. Discipline is forbidden in the halls of learning and in most of our homes. No one condones the beating of children but a good spanking on the derriere never hurts for long but can have a lasting effect.

If we take this over simplistic child rearing problem and extend it into how we feel toward our daily experiences, such as our respect for politicians and leaders of world finance and business, it is clear that we must look at this scenario much differently.  Respect must be earned.  No one expects that a fool or a criminal should be respected. These people along with bullies need to be identified and dealt with separately. Liars are also in this category and yet we as a society and our media are giving a pass to politicians’ numerous times a day. When these guys open their mouths, close your ears for very little of what they say holds much truth. A perfect case pointing out this truth is our own Prime Minister, Mark Carney standing in front of the people of Canada and spouting the biggest lie imaginable, that he was in compliance with all the laws of this land regarding his investments all being declared.  He left out the fact that he owns 573 stocks and options, 93% are USA. He does not think that being on the board of Brookfield, a huge conglomerate that is doing business with our government, has any significance while he ultimately makes financial decisions that could enhance his personal financial portfolio by millions. Are we fools to think he will remove himself from the room when it comes to awarding these huge contracts? This man has been in office for a short time and has committed Canada to billions of our hard-earned tax $ that is borrowed money with interest having to be paid by Canadians, and given to Ukraine. This has been done without parliament approval. He has already stated that he is considering sending our troops to Ukraine to be slaughtered by a Russian Army twenty times our combined forces.

My newspaper is very left of centre when it comes to anything political and I am aware that it is not fashionable to be seen reading any newspaper, that is just so old fashioned and not woke. However, the comment section is usually very biased and the quality of some of the writers is shown quite clearly that the author has no idea what is going on around them, and yet their opinion is as important as the next guy.  This is when the naivety is shown clearly and not to be cruel but young women and many seniors seem to be in the majority, thinking that Carney is close to being a King Donald or even God.  So many of these naive opinion writers are comparing Poilievre to Trump and it is obvious that it is because both men are Conservative and despised by the left. They do not see how unlike Poilievre is to Trump. This man is angry and when good people see bad things, they get angry and want to change the results.  The resemblance ends there.  The writers in question were probably brought up in good families that thought the best way for their child is the companionate, (lets discuss this) rather than confronting the child with some sternness and authority.  In adult life these people cannot handle other opinions that do not fit into the cubby hole they have created.  In all the medical facilities we find these notices posted for the patient in bold print that confrontation with the staff is strictly forbidden. Why? It is because so many in the medical field have caved in to the bureaucracy that has been so tainted against the patient’s best interest. We, the public are treated like animals in a compound. We must comply when we are told to - Go there. Do this. Take that. Don’t bother us in these hours, all with little dialogue.  Family doctors are like Travel agents sending patients off to specialists that in many cases know nothing and want to know less about your problems. This is not always the case. In spite of all my difficulties during my Esophageal Cancer bout, I did survive much longer than most with fewer complications. This was in part because of MY decisions that often were not the medical procedures. Staff and doctors were wonderful and I have showed my appreciation many times in the past.

Canada is a great country but like Poilievre, I see how our assets in the people and the God given water, minerals, forests and energy has been squandered by elected morons. This makes some of us upset and cross. We are not evil when we say, it could be better so let’s get rid of the people that are using their position of power for their own benefit. Changes need to be made in our whole moral fiber.  If we have to scream from the rooftops for change, it’s not because we are evil. It is because we need to rid evil from our country.

When I say “LOST people,” in my title. I believe we have lost our way. Many generations in the past were brought here to North-America by God’s plan. Our Gift from our God was the gift of a new and rich land that we could enjoy and develop in the name of God our Father. The English-speaking race has squandered its gift by ignoring God’s will for us which is spelled out very clearly in – The Ten Commandments.

“The Lord’s Prayer.”

Our Father, Which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth,

As it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive them that trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the Kingdom,

The power and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen.

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2-17 NKJV)

1

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of

bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.

2

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in

heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you

shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God,

visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations

of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep

My Commandments.

3

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold

him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

4

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your

work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no

work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female

servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the

Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the

seventh day. Therefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

5

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which

the Lord your God is giving you.

6

“You shall not murder.

7

“You shall not commit adultery.

8

“You shall not steal.

9

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10

“You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor

his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is

your neighbor's.”

Rather than Get into the details and specifics’, why not read these words and put them into today’s context and then try to justify all we have done that is in direct contrast to God’s laws. Are we living the life we once did many years ago? I am old enough to be able to answer that question and it is a resounding No. I remember in Public School never hearing the Lord’s name spoken in anger.  C#3.  We spoke the very words of the Lord’s prayer every morning in class so God’s words to us were always in the back of our minds.C#3. Church every Sunday C#4, and the stores were closed on Sundays as well. Visits to Grandparents were a regular routine. C#5. Murder, adultery and theft were not a part of our daily life C#6,7,8, and lying was a true sin and we were dealt with severely for breaking that rule. We old guys do remember the days of honoring, God’s Laws.

When we speak of a lost nation, what is a nation when the people have lost their way?  What country do you want to call home that lies to you and puts forward laws that are in direct opposition to your moral compass?

No people or nation can be perfect in God’s eyes. He is perfection and our time here is to try to reach as close as humanly possible, that place. It would seem that Canada has gone out of its way with its own laws that break as many of our God given laws as possible. The breakdown of our society and the lifestyle planned for us will crumble. That will be our ultimate destiny.
