Canada does the UNTHINKABLE
March 7th/26
My country has been the punching bag of the American president Donald John Trump far too long and we are not going to take it any longer. Canada has been a good friend and partner of the United States for as long as I can remember. We have fought side by side and traded across the longest border in the world and enjoyed a relationship that few countries have had with a neighbour. Our reputation has been known worldwide as being very polite and accommodating people. However, when a bully comes on the scene, we can be a very formidable adversary. Two world wars and many other situations have brought out a side of Canadians that says, don’t mess with us!
Bullies will always hit on what appears to be the weak. President Trump has finally shown his true colours as the world’s worse and biggest bully. My hope since he arrived on the public stage has been for a leader with all the Christian attributes that he displayed at first as he struggled to put his country back together. “Pride goeth before a fall”- My worst fears have come to pass and we in Canada, through our new Prime Minister, Mark Carney are showing how the little guy can stand up against a Goliath and win. I have been very skeptical of Carney but his recent actions have been Churchillian against Trump. Canada has a PM that does not lose his cool but is using all the tools in the box to defeat this Bully to our south. Carney, being a financial guy and not a Politian is out maneuvering Trump whose only weapon is fear.
To this point, a couple of weeks into this dispute between our two countries, our media has been virtually silent about the intriguing plays that Carney has used to infuriate Trump and make him look like the fool many have seen him as for much longer than I, as I have always hoped he would hold true to his words. Trump has as far back as his interview with Oprah Winfrey in 1988 been in favour of Tariffs. His bully tactics with this thinking can eventually only hurt the population that you are trying to protect. Unfair and actually ridiculous tariffs put Carney in a place where there was no chance of a fair agreement. All of this intrigue has been reported on YouTube by Ms. Bradley Madden.
Trump has put himself in a corner that will not only destroy any good his administration has accomplished but has turned much of the world against him and this will eventually take the United States into a place of isolation. Carney is the initiator of a New World Economic group of mid-sized countries that will have as much or more economic clout than the big three. Canada has proved through this period that we do have a strength that is as powerful as all the world armaments. We have what the Americans need and do not have enough to continue their war machine, we have Oil, Lumber, Steel, Aluminum, Electricity, Water, Critical material and Minerals and Potatoes. Yes, frozen potatoes in the form of French fries from PEI. Fast food restaurants are already having to change their menus from F/F to rice as Canada supplies over 60% of all the French fries to the USA. Mc Donalds, Wendys, Burger King, and all the rest get 90% of their frozen potatoes (1.2 Million Tons) from Canada. Think of the repercussions of not having this product available.
Warren Buffet and Elon Musk have criticized Trump on his abuse of tariffs and the way he has mismanaged the economy. Toyota #1 car manufacturer and Volkswagen #2 have just announced they are cancelling their new plants in Alabama, a $500 billion dollar investment and moving to a more stable environment, Ontario, Canada. Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes and Nisson are considering a similar move. Toyota’s owner said, “Capital flows downhill like water, to safety.” When the C/O of VW was asked why they were moving out of the USA, his response was, “capital goes where it is welcome”. It is very welcome here in Ontario, Windsor will get an upsurge of 36,000 new jobs.
Canada’s future looks pretty good with the attitude of the world looking for stability in North America. A few months ago we had a half wit running this country and now we seem to be in a far more stable situation with a Liberal government that can see that stability in commerce takes precedence over things like trying to control our climate. The Hudson Bay railroad is presently being re-furbished by our government and our brothers in the north, the First Nations. Soon Canada will be able to move grain, potash, critical minerals and energy through Churchill Manitoba and with the global warming and additional Ice breakers we will have a better position in the north with a 2nd major port, an Arctic gateway, for exporting and importing. This can be achieved with an estimated $262 million investment. Over time, hundreds of millions will be saved with this port improvement.
Carney has been able to prepare for many of the Trump surprises and has cut him off at the knees. This past week, 10 Northern governors of the USA gathered at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto and put together a consortium of 6 Republican and 4 Democrat Governors at their request to establish trade agreements outside the US federal jurisdiction. This was done to save thousands of American jobs. Carney made up a plan suitable to both sides. If Trump is not on his toes. Canada will not be the 51st state. The United States could be 10 states shy and Canada 10 additional provinces. Nothing today would surprise me.
